The first Pan-Armenian Winter Games will be held from February 24 to March 2 2014 in Yerevan and Tsaghkadzor cities of Armenia. Athletes will compete in skiing, Alpine skiing, snowboarding and ice hockey sports. A delegation of Yerevan Municipality will take an active part in the Games, the press service of Municipality reports.
The skiing, alpine skiing, and snowboarding competitions will be held in Tsaghkadzor city, and the hockey tournament will take place in capital city of Armenia – Yerevan.
The Yerevan Municipality has set up an organization committee, headed by Mayor Taron Margaryan, to create proper conditions for the trainings of sports teams of Yerevan.
The organizing committee will cover the accommodation and food expenses of the participating athletes.
Sports delegations from 17 Armenian-populated cities are expected to arrive in Armenia for the participation in the Pan-Armenian Winter Games.
Pan-Armenian Games have been held since 1999 with the purpose of bringing together athletes from the Diaspora and Armenia to compete in various sports. The last such competitions in Yerevan in the summer of 2011 featured more than 3,200 athletes from over 100 cities worldwide competing in 10 sports.
